Agile Methodology and the Scrum Framework
A lightweight framework that helps people, teams and organizations generate value through adaptive solutions for complex problems. Founded on empiricism and lean thinking, we’ll take a look into the processes involved in this iterative incremental approach, how it is leveraged by a highly engaged cross-functional team, and what it means to have a shippable increment of the product which delivers value with each cycle.
Agile Values, Principles, Roles, Events and Artifacts
Understand the underlying core values that agile scrum is built upon; through commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage of the scrum team. Learn about the individual roles and responsibilities of the scrum team, i.e. the Scrum Master, the Product Owner and the Delivery team, usually consisting of software developers and quality assurance professionals, and their interactions through scrum ceremonies based on these 5 core values and 12 principles of Agile.
Get familiar with agile scrum events and ceremonies practiced by the delivery team. Understand Sprints, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, the Sprint Review, the Sprint Retrospective, and how it all comes together.
The various artifacts of scrum provide the method by which work is prioritized, planned, executed and tracked throughout the development and delivery process. Learn about the Product Backlog, the Sprint Backlog, and what is meant by a shippable increment of value and the definition of Done!
Agile at Scale
As your understanding of agile scrum grows, learn how agile is applied at scale, beyond a single scrum team. Understand how scaled agile frameworks like SAFe and LeSS are implemented across multiple scrum teams at the enterprise level. Review the pros and cons of the various approaches and decide which is best for your organization.
Product Ownership in Agile
Take a deeper dive into the Product Owner role applied to the facilitation of the scrum team, defining product strategy, the product roadmap and prioritization of the product backlog. We’ll also take a look at product leadership, and the key skills and competencies that go into driving the successful delivery of the product.
Product Management in Agile
Live the day to day where a PM understands both business strategy and execution. Learn tested methods to figure out who the customers are and what problems the customers have. Know how to set a vision, find the right opportunities in a sea of possibilities, by using both data and intuition. Learn how to define success, for the customer and the product, by prioritizing doing what is right over doing what is easy. Build the know-how to work with engineers and designers to get the right product built, keeping it as simple as possible. Know how to work with marketing to explain to the customer how the
product fills the customer’s need better than a competitor’s product. Learn to do whatever’s needed to help ship the product by finding solutions, manage products, not people, using soft influence, effective communication, leadership, and trust—not orders.
PMs do so much that they’re sometimes even called
“Mini CEOs.”
